Colorado

St. Anne Shrine in Arvada:

Our family went to Sunday Mass at this lovely little church and historic shrine in Colorado. We were amazed that they have a relic of St. Anne (the grandmother of Jesus!) contained in the tiny shrine.

Our hosts for our first weekend away from home were the lively and gracious Nowak family. We were very grateful that they were up to hosting us for two nights - especially since our one day of snow on the whole trip fell on that day off!

While we were there, Debbie hosted a fun party (with buffalo chili - yum!) at which occasion I was fortunate enough to meet Mary Machado in person.

We had a few unplanned days set aside between Colorado and our arrival in Los Angeles for the first wedding. After consulting with Mary, with the Nowaks and with various weather websites, we decided to head due south into Santa Fe. We were very grateful for all of their New Mexico recommendations! We weren't able to make it to all of the possibilities, naturally, but very much enjoyed the four places we were able to visit.

Southern Colorado:

Southern Colorado was incredibly gorgeous. The kids took hundreds of pictures to prove it (taking photos was a favorite car-ride activity, much to the chagrin of the over-taxed camera) and this is one of my favorites. If I remember right, it's in the general vicinity of the Air Force Academy.
